rear boot not working

Featured Replies

Hi all,

just joined, but thanks for all the info i have had from this site in the past!

My rear boot now will not open, its been gradually getting that way as the mechanism above the number plate (the push / touch thingy) has been getting more tempramental these past few months. Now it does'nt work at all and the only way into the boot now is via the 'pull' switch next to the drivers door.

Is this somthing i can fix myself? any help appreciated.

Its a 2002 fabia estate.

cheers

I had the same thing when I bought my 2001 Fabia Estate. Boot would pop via the key and lever but not via the pressure pad above the number plate.

I removed the inner boot lid cover and removed the pressure pad to find the wiring loom had corroded off the contact points on the pad. I removed the wiring loom which is not that long as it connects to the wiring for the wiper motor. Cleaned up the contacts on the pressure pad and resoldered the wiring loom back onto the pads terminals. Refitted everything and now have a working boot release :)

This happens to me but rarely, so i haven't bothered to fix it.
