TV/AV wiring?

Featured Replies

Just got V+ box fitted so need to wire everything up properly now.

I have the following items and could do with some help on the best way to wire it up.

Sony 40w5810 TV 4 x HDMI,1 X Optical (Digital)

Panasonic DMP60 Blu-ray 1 x HDMI,1 X Optical (Digital)

V+ Box 1 x HDMI,1 x Optical (Digital)

Denon AV2803 IIRC 3 x Optical (Digital),1 X Optical (Digital) out

I understand where the HDMI's go but a little unsure on the Optical leads.

Do i have to configure them as i did plug them in but no sound came out?

I was having a slight problem with time delay so hoping the (connected by phonos at the mo) Optical leads may cure this.

BD optical -> Denon

V+ optical -> Denon

And a Harmony remote to coordinate it all for you.

See the Sky problem thread for info's on the delay issue.

On my Denon 3802 you have to assign the digital inputs to inputs on the amp.

Say you press TV/DBS it will assume you are using the analogue inputs unless it has a digital input assigned to it.

I have the problem if i run the V+ as the source.If i use the TV as the source (optical) then it doesn't do it.I know i will lose processing form the V+ box but as least it's in time.

Cheers,i had to enable it all again to set it up correctly.

Removed 3 x scart leads form DVD recorder and old Virgin box + 3 pairs of phonos.

All now connected by 2 xHDMI and 3 x optical leads.
