I am new and have a question, i drive a superb 1.9 tdi / model 2007. I want to do the maintenance myself. That is no problem except the computer.

I want to have control on the automatic notice for service on the maxi dot display. So I buy a cable from ross, usb serial interface. Installed VAG-COM

software and make connection to the car. It took some time to find out that the egnition key must be on...... It makes connection . So that is fine.

Where to find the service intervals and change them ? Is there a manual for this software ? What can one expect from this soft ? Is there a better

software for this use ?

Yes there is a manual: VCDS 908 Manual You can print it if you want by going to the bottom of the page and looking for the link to printable manual.

I am assuming that since you said "I buy a cable from ross, usb serial interface" - that you are using a genuine Ross-Tech product. However, I am tripped up by one thing: we don't sell "usb serial" interfaces. Our interfaces are either USB or they are serial but they do not convert one to the other.

So, do you have an aftermarket cable obtained through eBay? Are you running VCDS version 908 or are you running VCDSLite? As you can see the manual link I gave above is for the VCDS 908. The online manual for VCDSLite is found at this link: VCDSLite Manual It is only available online and is not printable.
