Hi fabiajohnnie...Glad to see your going to be joining the Yeti ranks soon...ish! ;)

This post though I think might be better in The Classic Skoda owners section where the felicias live  :...I think GentleGiants offspring have one  so he might be able to help - you could send him a PM.

May be a MOD or ADMIN memeber of staff could move it for you :sun: if you would like?

best wishes

Thanks Lady Penelope,

Could MOD or Admin do the move to Classic skoda section.Would help.

The old Felly engines are quite noisy, so the whine would have to be quite loud to be heard.

I am not an expert, but I say a lot more info is needed for anyone to give anything other than a guess.

Does the whine change in pitch when accelerating?. How about during gear changes, continue at the same pitch or drop?.

Occurs ONLY when accelerating?.

In all gears or only one?.

Worse uphill or when trying (lol) to accelerate hard?

How close to the top does the clutch bite?.

Most of the whines and squeals I hear from cars (of all makes) are either loose aux drive belts or clutch worn out and scraping on the studs.

Drive shafts and bearings tend to be clicks and clunks when turning the wheel, or squeals when cornering; neither really loud enough to be heard over a felly engine under load!!!

Topic moved. It is not unknown for them to whine in 5th gear, this is due to the nut that holds the gear on its shaft becoming loose. It's not a major repair, as only the end casing of the gearbox has to be removed, around an hours work plus 2 new nuts at around £15 and gearbox oil. If it is only in 5th gear, do not use 5th until it is fixed as you will end up wearing the splines off the end of the shaft and that will be a major repair.

We need a reply with more info, otherwise we are just guessing. :wonder:
