Parcel Shelf Speakers

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I still have my parcel shelf with the parcel shelf speakers fitted from my old Fabia. I kept them because they're worth about £100 so the dealer let me swap the parcel shelfs around so I can keep them without leaving two huge holes in the parcel shelf in the old Fabia (would have looked slightly tacky don't ya think).

I just want to know whether I can just run wires off of the rear speakers already wired up in the vRS or do I have to run new wires from the head unit?

If I can run new wires off of the old ones, will it effect the sound quality?

Grr666's excellent parcel shelf build thread

I did, see this thread....

Are you coming to the Essex RR day on the 13th

See link in my Sig for details.

I did read your thread after finding it through search. I didn't realise you had wired those and your original rear speakers up to the stereo. I found out from a friend's dad that 6 speakers (original fronts, original rears and the parcel shelf speakers) will be too many watts for the stereo to cope with and probably won't work. Is this true? How did you wire your speakers up?

I wish I could make the RR day. There will be some very interedting results i'm sure. I did already ask for the day off at work but they won't let me have it :(

It will work - but I wouldn't advise it.. unless you have external amp it'll sound poo.. not enough power to speakers is bad. It will break it quicker and possible decrease life amp in HU too.

The best set up is actually have more than the speaker needs.. i.e. 50rms and 100watt max.. get a 80w rms amp. but not everyone is made of money :giggle:

basically analogy..

water running = amp..

people who are thirsty = speaker power..

not enough water running = angry people, possibly dead people.. :S

excess water = happy people..

I love your water theory :D

I chanced it a couple of days ago and attempted to run new wires off of the original speaker wires.

All I did was cut the wires on the rear speakers then made the wires longer using speaker cable wire then wired them to my parcel shelf speakers. Simples and they work great
