Suggestion for you.

Confirm (or otherwise) LV's change of policy on mods...

Then, when you broach the subject of cancelling with LV and they threaten to "short-rate" you, calmly point out that they have breached their contract with you by failing to inform you in writing of a change in T&C's.

Oh, and I've scrutinised my LV renewal notice, and other than altering my excess down to 250 and bumping windscreen up by a tenner, there IS NO MENTION OF ANYTHING ABOUT MODS! will confirm tomorrow though
