B/C pillar cover paint prep

Featured Replies

I have some B / C pillar covers on the way for my Octy. I was wondering what the best procedure is for prepping the paintwork? I'm assuming they're self adhesive, so would a good claying be sufficient to remove any existing wax (the car hasn't had a full detail yet so no Klasse lurking under there, just a very old layer of 476s which is probably gone now and recently topped up short-term with some cheapo turtle-wax stuff that was quick to put on)?

I have Mer (sp?) polish at my disposal too if that'd help . . .

Cheers

Rob

I'm not sure if it would be better to leave them prepped.

if they're never coming back off then i guess the opposite

how good would the adhesion be whilst waxed?

where'd them from?

I'd suggest something like the AG tar remover over the surface and then a good wipe over with a lint free cloth and a wipe over with a touch of something like meths would probably give you a good surface to adhere to.

Giving the surface a quick clay before you do the above wont hurt.

Wash with washing up liquid and warm water, followed by Meths
