Elegance Front Fog Light

Featured Replies

Hi,

has anyone had to access a front fog light unit on a MKII elegance and how did they do it?

My problem is that the bulb unit has come out of it`s housing and is sitting behind the housing.

Skoda dealer says the lens has been impacted and has the most imperseptible crack on one edge.

He wants £30 just to look at it.

My feeling is if a stone or what ever has impacted my fog light lens with sufficient force to dislodge the light cluster there`s something amiss with the design and should be covered by my warrenty but he says not and why is the lens still in one piece?

Is it possible to access this unit without a ramp if so do I need to remove the floor tray or the front skirt as I dont think it will come out from the front.

same issue if you need to replace a bulb!!.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Malc

Id go back to your dealer if the vehicle is under warrenty. i know iis not the cars fault but a little good will gesture goes a long way!! I know from experience that my local dealer would not charge for a quick fix like this on cars they sell, service and maintain.

Name and shame the dealer!!

To access the foglights on my Elegance FL, just remove the section of the lower grill and you can release the clip from there. The light can then be swung out.

Have a look in the manual for replacing the bulb.

Mike,

thanks for your reply.

I did have a quick look underneath and could see the torx screws you mention, but looking in from the engine compartment down on the offside it seems the large washer bottle could be obscuring access to the light unit but i`ll give it a go.

Thanks,

Malc

OSCene,

thanks for your reply.

I get the impression that the service manager at my local dealer is quite uncompromising in what he will charge for, and wouldn`t be moved by any argument regarding future business that I may put his way.

Thanks any way

Malc.

Hi darrenw,

Thanks for your reply.

I`m very interested in what you say regarding access to my front offside fog light.

Why couldn`t my dealer point this out to me?.

The cynic in me tells me they`d be losing business, which they have anyway.

They`ve already had two services out of me but not any more.

Thanks

Malc

Mike, darrenw

appreciate your input.

darrenw your info was spot on,removed short grill piece nearest the fog light.Sure enough found two torx screws holdind the unit in with hook at other side.

Removed unit to give access to the light assy.

Fitting the light assy back to the lens unit was a bit tricky had to remove the beam adjuster first taking care not to turn the beam adjusting screw, then refitting it once the bulb assy was in place.

Mike, noticed that the horn was right behind this fog light, access to mounting bracket and connector seemed quite easy.

Thanks once again to all that helped.

This forum is an invaliable source of info.Hope to be of help myself in the future.

This was so easy with the right info.I feel my local dealer was attempting to rip me off.

Briskoda wins again!

Name and shame is my shout on this one. I can't believe they would be so arrogant and not even look at a car still under warranty and serviced by them without trying to charge you. The threat of no more business from you should have been the wake up call to them. I hope you told them you won't be going back and I'd perhaps be inclined to to write to the dealers manager - perhaps mentioning that you are willing to or have named and shamed them on what is a very popular and well used Skoda forum.

Glad you sorted the problem
