Chris Knott VS L.V

Hmmm

Just got off the phone to Chris Knott - Good news Geoff - they give 60 or 90 days free Green Card as part of the policy. :woot: Note though he mentioned "highways" as the company doing the actual insurers - I suspect Chris Knott is the broker only. ;)

Adrian - they do do instalments, and using my premium of

Green card??? Seems to me LV is starting to bull **** about. Not what I would call peace of mind insurance. I would change.

Green Card is a figure of speech. LV Give 180 days Euro cover as part of the policy. None of this calling beforehand and arranging travel cover nonsense

Jason, seems like theres not much between them to me. If you're happy with what LV told you and don't mind the slightly increased excess, then changing seems pointless...

Either way you're insured. Panic Over. :)

Gut feeling says Chris Knott to me :)

exactly - I'm waiting for what the brain kicks in to decide, over what my gut is telling me to do! :o:rofl:

Could be a coin toss in the end though!

Jason - Chris Knott is only a broker and not an insurer. From your description, I assume that the insurer is Highway Insurance company - which used to be Lloyd's based but is now a PLC - and they only deal through intermediaries / brokers.

Spot on!

My renewal is up in a few weeks and i've just spoken to LV at length and confirm what Jason says about mods is right

Now considering my mods add up to around a 120% increase in power (approximately ;) ) i'm quite glad they are continuing the 'keep the receipts + photos as proof' line for existing customers!

I can manage insurance of

So your car is putting out 400BHP Dave?! (I think you mean 20% increase in power ;))

But, thanks for the advice - I'm still torn between the two.

I don't :D

Jason

I was with Highway when I had my Mark 2 Golf GTD. The broker was HIC (Herts Consultants) and they were reasonably priced for about two years then the renewal price doubled for no obvious reason.

The HIC consultant explained to me when I took out the insurance with them that Highway were not bothered about modifications but in any payout would only pay the standard car costs (If the alloys cost

 Well LV sort of did an agreed value thingy on the Fabia - took the book price and gave me a good bonus for the mods I wrecked (alloys mainly) Although they never actually broke it down into THIS is for the car, and THIS is for the mods. :)

I'm still thinking...

Ooops! Maybe it is more like 100% than 120% ;) As soon as its finished i'll stick it on the rollers and find out :D

Do a little google for them.. they're the first result when doing "chris knott" on UK search only. :)

So who did you go with in the end?

Apologies if I messed the post elsewhere

Ta. I did try and find it myself. Honest :D

I stuck with L.V. in the end, Dr.Z  I guess the lack of modding hassle was #1 priority, even if I may kind of bring all that to a gradual halt soon... *yeah, as if! But also I still remember how well I was dealt with back in January, and although they struggled to deal with the fact I wanted my shell back (how many really do??? :D) it was an altogether good experience... obviously I'd have preferred NOT to have stacked my Fabia in the first place.

L.V it is then. I did notice on the insurance documentation that although I have no NCD, the discount I got from them was like 57.5%... Whether thats because I'm 25+ now I dunno? Also I like having third party cover on other people's cars - can be so useful sometimes, especially when I needed some tape and my door card was hanging off my car by wires.
