Folding mirrors stuck!

Featured Replies

Hey fellas, help!

Last night I folded my mirrors in (electrically operated - 2002 model superb), and today they would not unfold! So been driving all day with them folded in, a real pain the neck. I must say this is not a feature I have used before many times, but when I did it was OK. It is awfully hot here (35 degrees) - maybe that has something to do with it. The dashboard was so hot I could not touch it!

I cannot hear any motor whining. Maybe disconnecting the battery would "reset it". I am facing the prospect of a long drive back to the UK with no mirrors. Scary

Had the same problem a while ago,I disconnected both the positive and negative wires from the battery and clamped them together for 15 minutes, resets all the electronics, got the advice from a previous thread

I deffinately wouldnt reccomend holding the live and earth wires together unless they were totally off the battery.....dread to think what would happen...and wiring would be a mass of copper strands lol

Fuse?!

First thing I would check..........

Or the switch maybe.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up putting the switch back into "closed" position, then disconnecting the battery for 2 mins, then reconnecting the battery terminals and finally turning the switch into "open", and that sorted it.

That's good to know

You must work for our IT department - "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?"! :D

Glad it worked - a useful tip to remember.
