My engine has blew up and am going to replace the whole thing. Looking on ebay there are two engine codes. BLT and ASZ. Which one do i want a buy.

How old is your vRS as both engines have been fitted to the vRS in its life.

It's an 06 plate

BLT mate - when you say its blown up... care to explain how and what's gone pop?

Ill give it ago. It s been mapped, intercooler ect ect. Pulled away fast and popped. It s lost all compression. So it blows out of every available hole. Even the dipstick. I no a fair bit about cars but internal arn t my speciality.

Hmm, not turbo or boost pipe then... sounds like its lost compression?

No all the boost pipes are good. If it was the turbo i don't think it would blow out of the dipstick would it?

Suggest you replace like for like, keep to original engine type engine??

Check your log book mate!! Should say either asz or blt on the engine code!!

What power were you running??

When my turbo sized it blew out the dipstick, just a thought . . .

blowing out the dipstick will be the sump area being pressurised...norm associated with piston/piston ring failure..

dont really understand that...turbo failure + no boost....bottom half of engine would need to be pressurised for anything to blow out of dipstick..ie combustion gases to be entering sump area via piston/piston rings...

i know this may seem silly but could i have blown the oil pump thats why ive got no pressure smokes coming for that when trying to start it up ????

doesn't make much sense that :wonder:

does it start and is your oil light going out?

When i say blowing out the dipstick, the car started, but blew out the dipstick.

Matt

sorry worded it wrong and was proved wrong once it started it fired up and ran no knocks or anything sounded fine from engine just lots of smoke coming out the oil cap :(

had proper look at mine now found cause it was the compresser wheel has blown to bits on turbo taking engine with it so gotta save like mad and get it fixed now :(

Just for info could you tell me:

Is the car remapped?

Mileage?

Do you follow the warm up and cool down method?

How regular is the oil changed?

There seems to be alot of turbos popping for this reason im thinking of selling up :(

yes it was re mapped

mileage=36k

yes i always do

the oil was changed two weeks before when it had full service

Thanks for the reply..

Would you say its down to the remap allowing you to rev higher the compressor wheel couldnt keep up with the revs so it exploded?

One of my friends had the same issue because of an agressive map the garage mentioned the power delivery was mapped agressive causing the wheel to snap off the compressor.

thats what me and garage are looking into mate if it is down to his map then fair play to him hes said hes liable for it and will have to sort it :)
