what is this on my vRS?

Featured Replies

Bit of a newb question but what is this rusty looking bent bar going from one end to the other under my car?

is that the front ARB? looks a bit puny if it is. Is it ment to look bent?

I've started noticing a squeaking sound while driving, at first i thought it was inside the car but now wondering if this could be causing it.

yes front ARB i believe and I think it is meant to look bent yes.

The squeaking could be many things but most likely bushes of some sort. (if its not an interior squeak)

That is most definitely NOT the anti roll bar. The anti roll bar sits between the 2 front wheels and is attached either side to the drop links which are then attached to the suspension. Its then held onto the chassis underneath by 2 rubber bushes and D mountings. Its meant to move as you turn or go over bumps.

Not sure what's pictured, but its not your anti roll bar! Looks like some general type of support

Errrrrrr that could be anything!

Seeing as it is well bolted through the Chassis i can imagine it is stiffening it up a bit, but still really odd......

Just thinking out loud:

Car hasnt been in an acedent before has it?............ Bent chassis..........jig........... brace?

I've been wondering what these bars are for aswell, maybe for the exhaust to catch it if it fell off ?

As said before, most certainly NOT the anti-roll bar :giggle:

Still - bit of an odd one though, I really don't see the purpose of it. Just some sort of bracing for the floor pan / exhaust catcher!

This is going to be a long shot.

Has the Exaust been changed? as the age of the bar looks the same as the exaust?

It's just a body brace, Same fitment on all Fabia 1's

How can Newsskoa allow underside parts of his car to go rusty. Discgusting, get under there and polish it up!

I love fabias they have parts that know one really knows what it does, but is sure it does somthing. My advice would be to polish it up paint it then when asked whats that, make a new fancy name for it, i would choose "speed bar", make some crap up about what it does then every one will be asking for this speed bar that you've got!!

had a look under mine today whilst on the ramps...its a support for exhaust..directly above it theres an exhaust clamp with a rubber in between the clamp and this support bracket..
