MFD3 ver C reverse graphics missing

Featured Replies

Have fitted a Columbus mfd 3 version c to my 58 plate VRS, all works well except for the reversing graphics, there arn't any. The system beeps away as you get closer to the wall etc. I have been told that the distance from the object should be displayed as well, any thought?

Hi

Simple answer is you need to upgrade the parking ECU and the CAN bus

Then they will work

Have done the same thing as you and have the same issue.

If you do a search then you will find the full details and in the end I decided was not worth the cost, which I think was near £350

Thanks

When I purchased the car the 'Standard' radio with the car had displayed the graphics, when I fitted the MFD3 system they were the only thing not to work. As the unit is the later 'C' version I thought it might be a coding issue, although so far I have not had much luck with solutions.

On a 58 Plate You should only need the Park Distance Controller - which costs around £60 to £90 IIRC

and not the CAN Gateway ( needed for pre MY08) which can cost £180 - £200 IIRC

But you still need to change where the CAN wires go to, from the new PDC

Many thanks for that, next question would be about the wiring modifications and if there is a part number for the PDC as my 'local' dealer seems to go off the vehicle chassis build for parts(!!). Anywhere that I can look this up would be appreciated

I lost graphics with my Columbus install. It's no problem. The beeps tell me if I'm near something, so why do I need to see what part of the car is closest to the wall/tree/car? Save your money.

So you have to change this :-

Address 76: Park Assist Labels: 1Z0-919-283.LBL

Part No SW: 1Z0 919 283 B HW: 1Z0 919 283 B

Component: Parkhilfe 4-Kan H04 0020

For this :-

Address 10: Park/Steer Assist (J446) Labels: 3C8-919-475.CLB

Part No SW: 1Z0 919 475 HW: 1Z0 919 475

Component: PARKHILFE 4K H06 0003

So ask for a 1Z0 919 475 price - Think this is the Rear ONLY PDC - iirc

This is old but see this link
