intercooler problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Just had my car in skoda dealer for a service and they are saying I got a leak on my intercooler. They quoting over £200 to sort this. Would you recommend fitting a upgraded intercooler instead of just a repair. And would I need to change to do owt else to car if I did. Already got a stage 1 remap from ben at shark???

Car is a 2005 1.9 tdi. Pd 105 octy 2.

They also saying there is a problem with 2 glow plugs and want over £150 to sort this. Any cheaper options for this too ???

Glow plugs are cheap as chips comapred to there price, and are easy to do if you've got some knowledge with a socket set.

As for the intercooler, mine leaks a little. But has never caused an issue, the seals can be had individually and are a doddle to change.

Maybe there looking to replace the whole pipe, the pipe from the turbo to the pipe inbetween the intercooler is roughly £60+. The one from the joining section to the actual intercooler is about £40. Only replace these if the metal lugs have gone or are seriously worn.

Sort of sounds like a gun shot when one lets go.

I must admit I haven't noticed anything unusual bout the way it drives. Starts every time first time. Prob just garage trying to get silly money out of me.

But I will def keep a eye on things n see how they go.
