What hybrid turbo should i get?

Featured Replies

Hi there having owned my Fabia vrs for almost 3 weeks now i have already made quite a few modifications too it which include, fmic, full turbo back miltec, panel filter bigger intake and a custom remap by awesome gti. The car made 177bhp and 356 torque but now im looking at getting hybrid turbo, what should i go for and how much will it be roughly? Ohh and i know i need to get a better clutch asap so looking at going single mass also thanks

A Turbo dynamics stage 2 turbo would be a very good addition.

You're pushign more torque for more power, so a Single mass flysheel + clutch would be a good call.

A decent intercooler, such as a Forge would be good too.

So:

£1000 - Turbo

£???? - Single mass flywheel and clutch

£600 - Front mount intercooler.

Hi thanks for the reply the car does have a front mount intercooler already i bought it off ebay, only a cheap one but me and my brother did all pipework ended up costing £300 but its a good job awesome gti were impressed with it.So the intercooler should be fine just need a clutch flywheel and turbo.

Hi just to let people know ive had a price on a pd150 turbo brand new and then obviously hybrided comes to about 800 inc vat he also told me i could go for the pd130 garrett turbo hybrided for £700 any suggestions what would be best because he said it might be a bit laggy with the pd150 turbo any suggestions?

whilst it most likely spools a little later than a PD130 hybrid a PD150 hybrid is fine. mine's starting to pick up from a little below 1500(?)rpm, real strong from 2200-2500rpm and worth revving to around 4.5-5000. mine's a CR Turbo's hybrid with mapping through Unit18

Fair enough.

Lag with pd150 turbo? Not noticable.

As I understand, my car's got a VT2 turbo, which is a PD150, with played with internals, and it's fine for day to day driving...... full boost at 2k.......(That's 1.8 bar).

Another option is a GTB2260VK, which after cost analysis, may be what I'm going for. This is for bigger power setups.

There's a guy over in Romania who will convert one to work with our engines, and supply a flange to weld on the down pipe (Exhaust manifold/oil lines fit), for 800 euro.

Obviously it's gonna be more reliable, as it's a standard bit of kit...........First hand I know how un reliable hybrids can be, mine needs a rebuild as it's blown it's oil seals......
