flashing oil light and audible beep

help please.....

my oil light has come on and flashed with an audible beep, i have checked the oil level and that is fine but the engine sounds noisey any ideas people??

Don't drive it at all if possible.

Get it trailered to a garage and get them to check the oil pressure in the top end.

There have been problems on the 1.8T engine in the past with the strainer in the oil pickup getting blocked which will stop oil getting to the head. If you drive it you can wreck the camshafts etc. And it will still show the oil level as being fine.

Assuming theres not any damage to the head the garage will be able to drop the sump off and replace the strainer then give it an oil change.

Is the light red or orange?

If orange then you may have a sensor fault, but since it's noisy, I think it's probably red.

If it's red, then it's low pressure and you've probably knackered your top end if you've driven it.
