sound deadening doors

Featured Replies

I was considering putting some sound deadening in the doors to reduce the road noise and sound of passing traffic. It sometimes sound like there's little soundproofing as the noise of passing cars seems louder than my previous octavia.

Anyone done this, if so did it help much? Was it hard work?

I sound proofed a Citroen ZX, I bought the kit from a exchange and mart long before the internet became what it is now. The kit cost around £100 and contained a two layer floor kit, under bonnet and door panel inserts. It took me a whole day to fit including the removal of seats and carpets and there re-fitting. The sound levels were greatly reduced and the overall stance of the car was a little lower, the kit weighed 45kg. This gave the car a more potent stance which I liked.

It was not to hard just hard work!!!!!

It's not hard but boring as you have to take panel of the doors, carpet and panels in boot and if you would like to do it proper way take off seats and carpet as well as ceiling in the car :)

Massive difference you will fell when just doors, arches and boot is deadened.

Try to use good product like StP or Dynamat to get best results.

Cheers,

I've already done the boot with second skin. I'm going to do the rear arches with second skin damplifier and second skin luxary liner. I was thinking of doing the doors with second skin damplifier and silent coat isolator 8. Just need to get the time to do it.

how much did you pay for the second skin?
