Fabia VRS For driver under 25!!!

Featured Replies

Hi,

This is my first topic on this forum as I have just ordered a brand new black fabia vrs (130BHP).

I am 20 years of age, my birthday is on the 14th december. The reason i bought this car now is so that presumably I would get a cheaper car insurance qoute when I was 21 than 20. So....I decided to make a purchase on the 2nd december intime to get the car for around my birthday time (14th). I put my deposit on the car and started searching for insurance..... :eek: after the first 4-5 calls to all the main insurers I discovered that this wasnt going to be easy... most wouldnt even insure me. I do alot of miles and work intelevision. Apparently this occupation is a hazardous one for drivers let alone the fact that i dont have any ncb or other insurance history. The most expensive qoute I recieved was

im 24 mate and just paid

22 Just paid

I paid

I defo try elephant or admiral, might be worth putting your mum as a named driver as this does sometimes knock a few quid of the quote...

god i never that for insurance ! i know im owner but only pay 350 fully comp yippy for being an old git (38) look 29 lol if u please

22 first insurance and the best i could get was 1300, thats what you get for living in Northern Ireland always getting their arm in, elephant and admiral were looking in the 2's.

19, paying

19, paying

Get a grip William :rolleyes: Your

Exactly. Just think if your car is written off. They have to pay out for that at around about 10k at a real rough guestimate. How on erath could they even come close to paying that if your only paying 150 quid. Thats only if your the only one involved. Would be even more of a payout if another car or even person was involved!

Getting heated again.....mary loves ****...mary loves ****

You think that

I agree that I wouldn't pay

Ive been quoted at my current status (i.e. 24 with 5yrs NCB) 478 GBP fully comp on a vRS from Direct Line. This includes protected NCB. However as I will be 25 when I take delivery, I hope it will be lower. :D

Try Greenlight insurance they may come out cheaper?

I'm 26, 9 years NCB, with 1 months ban. Car can be tuned up2 210bhp and any mods allowed (as long as you tell them and they do not increase the size of the engine) all for a shade over

The car insurance industry is something I think the government needs to take action against. They have us by the balls. Because motor insurance is a legal requirement these companies all know that they can charge far more than is needed to make a profit. There are so many myths about, ie your insurance get cheaper when you reach, 21, 25, 30 etc. Bull**** every year my premium goes up despite increased age, NCB etc.

Like the states there should be a state scheme to cover minimum 3rd part coverage. That way the insurance companies would have to make fuller cover more realistic in cost or people would just not bother doing business with them.

Will as much as I dont like to agree with you I find myself sharing your view there (arrgghhh!!)

Insurance is a legal requirement in this country yet, we have to pay through the roof for it. Yes I know they have to make a profit and yes they have to cover the un-insured drivers, yet why should that be my problem?!?

Maybe there should be a standard cover run by the government i.e. 3rd party cover only maybe, anything over that you could pay an option extra so to speak.

William in answer to your comments:

1) Insurance in general is going up on Motor policies due to increases in claims costs / litigation;

2) Costs are also going up as more insurers pull out of providing coverage due to losses, high admin & risk costs arising from new FSA consumer protection regulation;

3) Your premium might just have increased as you get older due to the fact you went from a Felicia to 1.6 Octy to an Octy RS (higher risk cars) and you live in an area with huge rises in claims costs in the last ten years :rolleyes:

4) I actually agree that state provision of 3rd part cover would be preferable - although the reason the government has fought against it is that they believe that it would be MORE expensive to the general public in the end (we would still pay - just through taxes instead!).

  • 1 month later...

I'm through Vauxhall Insurance (who first insured my Corsa SXi a few years ago for free - and since gave me 5 years no claims even though I've only been driving three :D ).

I'm 24 and paying exactly

I tried all over the place and the best quote I was offered was by Privilege -

Plain and simple the reason for younger drivers getting charged more is because they are inexperienced compared to most older drivers.

IMHO there are a lot of people out there that can't drive who are older and think they know it all. They tend to be the ones that don't indicate, have their foglights on during a clear day and pull out in front without considering speed of other traffic.

You can get good deals, and the amount of cover and own-risk varies wildly. The Furby for a learning driver doubles my premium with my NC discount used.. So the Mrs ain't gonna be on it ;)
