Amount of owners

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls,

Found a vrs i like and want to go and look at it, just a slight worry that its had 5 owners, granted that 2 were in that family so id be the 6 of an 05 plate. Is that a worry or is it nothing to worry about?Would it lower the resale value by alot? Its my first vrs so im being fairly reserved about my choices

Cheers

Six owners within 5 years? Hmm... i'd be put off a bit, makes me think tehy weren't ahppy with it?

Unless some were garages who registered it on the forecourt, I'd be suspicious. A VRS isn't the sort of car people buy as a runabout to sell after a year, so what is wrong with it? Could be a problem which has now been found and fixed, but how can you tell? Hope you end up with a good machine.

Its a lovely car with xenons and cruise, just when thinking about forking out quite a lot of cash its a bit worrying!

Cheers guys

too many owners=sloppy seconds

my 05 plate has had 5 owners!!

first two were mechanics at Skoda as car is specced up to the heavens

then it was a lad i knew who didnt have it long due to insurance issues

then my friend owned it for 2 years and he drives like a granny

Now im the 5th owner and its not 5 years old yet!

Personally i wouldnt be put off

I wouldnt be bothered about how many owners a car has had as long as its in good condition with a good service history

:( and maybe the fact that you reved it to 5k didnt help ;)

Why you reved a diesel car so much is beyond me :o - it all your power really that far up the rev range? :o I thought it red lined at like 4.6 and even then there is no real oomp unless you are running a crazy map :S

bigger turbo and its running a stage 2 map

so max power doesnt really come in to around 4k anyways!

it used to rev upto around 5.5k before i got the limiter put back on it :S

Oh fair enough then!

Did you have your rev limiter removed also?

lol thats crazy :o:giggle:

Driving a diesel car like its a petrol

Still cant be good for the engine seeing as the internals are not really designed for those kind of revs - I'm sure they didn't put a limiter on it just for fun! :giggle:

Unless ofc you changed it a bit? :o;)

@the OP - If you're worried about it, ask to see the V5 and see who the owners were. If two of them were in the same family, that at least says that one family member passed it on to another. The only thing that would put me off is if one of them was Hertz/Avis/Alamo etc. Even if it was registered as a demo, there is limited damaged that could be done. I can't remember what contact details are on the V5, but see if you can contact the earlier owners to see if they had any issues with it.

What you're after is a nice, unmolested car that you can have fun with for a few years to come. You're spending a lot of money. Don't worry about walking away from a deal if you're not 100% happy.

You've obviously not driven a CR170 - the power peak is at 4200rpm and it revs freely to 5500rpm. It even sounds like a petrol V6 B)

Sounds like a nice engine :)

With a hybrid you should change at 4.2 1st and 2nd 4.5k 3rd and 4th and 5k 5th + 6th ;)

are we talking about turbos or engines here? :giggle:

Found a vrs i like and want to go and look at it, just a slight worry that its had 5 owners,

Mate there are many many used cars available for sale at the moment and it is a buyers' market.

There is no need to buy a car which has had a different owner for each of it's five year life.

There are plenty available with only one or two owners and low mileage too, so don't waste your time on this car when there are alternatives.

yea just it had all the extras. I think ive decided to get a higher mileage one and pay a lot less for it
