Roomster facelift spec and options questions

Featured Replies

I'm coming to the end of the payments for my Roomster Scout 1.6 on the solutions programme in October and I'm currently considering whether to make the final payment and keep the car or replace it with a new facelifted Scout with the 1.2 TSI engine. Gonna have a test drive soon.

Does anybody know what happens if I were to order a new factory built car and it did not arrive before my solutions payments end? Could I just keep the old car until the new one arrived?

Questions related to the spec of the car, anyone know:

- Will Bluetooth become available as a factory fit option on the Roomster? It's available on factory builds in Europe and it's available on the Fabia here so I don't see why not?

- Will the Amundsen sat nav shortly be available as an option? Again, it's available in Europe and it's available here on the Fabia RS...

- Exactly which engines/driver aids come with rear disc brakes. Skoda.co.uk says DSG only, but I wonder whether it might be standard on TSI models with ESP or ESP plus anyway?

Thanks for your help!

Don't know about the Scout but my new Roomster SE 1.2 TSI (referred to in another thread) appears to have rear disc brakes:

even though the brochure says it comes with rear drums. Maybe the whole range now has discs.

That's good. Thanks for the reply.

Do you have ESP on yours?

It's possible the change to drums has only just taken effect, I'm not sure...

The Disc brakes are fitted if you have Traction or cruise as rule of thumb. Seen my new Roomy Scout (1.6TDI) today, with discs all round. Skoda UK don't seem to know about the specs but the dealers are working to feel the brochure gaps and should be able to advise or do a deal with you.

The Bluetooth was not an option when we placed the order for ours.

The Sat nav, buying from Skoda is exspensive. How about buying a DVD/Satnav/Bluetooth unit for £500 or if you want to spend £1000 there are two of the main manufactures that do a model that fits in the Roomsters slot. http://www.esg1.co.uk/e723sk-2-din-dvdgps-player-skoda-octavia-ii-caller-id-display-p-656.html

Looking at factory fitted satnavs and bluetooth we decided to stick with tomtom if it goes wrong its only £200 and no fitting hassle. Having said that I have no idea what the standard sound system quality is like at 130 Kmh nor the noise levels from the engine at this speed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks JD, good to hear you have the discs all round. When do you pick yours up, will be interested to see pictures.

I didn't think that Skoda UK were going to offer satnav on the Roomster/Fabia at all but it is apparantely now available on the Fabia RS for £600. I generally prefer the integrated look of factory units such as those.

Should be sitting on the drive now but the DVLA refused to registar it. Has we spent lots of money on arranging insrance whilst in France only to be informed of the problem when the Ferry docked in Dover and I switched my mobile on Friday evening. So the missis is not to pleased that her pride and joy is not ready for its maiden trip to Scotland next week.

Must admit if it preforms as well as it looks and to specification herself should be very pleased.

As for the intergrated units. The DVD units on sale for the Roomster are supposed to match the vehicle's dash design, the cheapest I have seen is about £300, the link I posted the unit , on memory, was £500. It worth researching as the only problem I have had with Skoda so far is with the prices of some of their dealer bolt ons. (£80 factory fitted aremrest £200+ dealer fitted, black only. Towbar price should include a trailer)

I asked Skoda UK customer service these two questions and they said:

"I can confirm that the Factory has not informed us of this being made available as an option.

As and when this is made available to the UK market then a bulletin will be sent out to the Retailer Network informing them of

this."

.... so I asked Skoda CZ and they said:

" Cars may be really different in equipment because each single Skoda Importer decides on his own what cars, equipment and technical features will be offered in his country. For more details we recommend you contact directly importer in your country."

So who's telling the truth?! I'm inclined to believe Skoda CZ.

If you look at the owner manuals you will see what is available for the vehicle from the factory, check that you have the wiring and source the part from Germany CZ. You will get more help from Ford UK than Skoda UK. Reason Skoda UK is run by accountants.

Just done that, I kept my old Roomster and continued the standard payments which had the affect of slightly reducong the payments on the new car once they were taken into account. My dealer covered the cost of the MOT which became due.

Thanks for that. Useful to know.
