Sorry not sure where to put this one

I removed the aircon and vent control panel today. I didnt realise that there was a connector rod between the dial and the selector. the ridgid but flexible round one that has a clip on one end.

Where does the end go into the car. I have got the dial unit with the cable in it but cant locate the other end of the cable.

Any help out there
