New man at head of Skoda

Featured Replies

Heard recently a new VW man has gone to Skoda to make them make more money, or possibly make Skoda less attractive ie less Premium..............could this be true..........Well evidence I've seen so far is, Pano roof remove from Superb Estate, warning triangle removed from Superb, Hill Hold removed from car but not brochure !, and Umbrella removed from Superb rear door...................... That's the bits you can see, what's being removed from the bits you can't see................. Buy now I say, I bet the Superb mark 3 will NOT be in same league as Audi (or perhaps better) but will be a return to more basic roots............

What does anyone else think....or am I way off ?

The warning triangle has never been standard on a UK car since its not a legal requirement to have one, but yes it is true. The current profit margin on Skoda models in the UK is very small, especially with offers such as the No VAT deal. Someone has to pay the VAT so its skoda taking the hit at the moment. Thing like the umbrella may seem trivial but multiplied by thousands the savings soon add up. I have never used the umbrella yet, for us in the uk its on the wrong side of the car.

That's odd, mine came with the warning triangle as standard (2009 model) - I use the umbrella quite regularly, but it is now kept in the front passenger door pocket!!

It's on the kerb side, that would be where I would want it?

Having it on the other side would mean opening the door and letting a passenger out into traffic.

So is it still on the passenger side on a LHD car? which is after all what the car was designed as.

Yes, LHD cars have them on the RH door.

The idea comes from the Bentley which has it in the LH door, RH in LHD cars. The theory is that the driver opens the rear door and takes the brolly out, puts it up for his distinguished passengers and gets wet himself!

My lad thinks the Superb carries more than a few styling queues from the Bentley.
