Recoding radio

Featured Replies

Can VAG-Com recode the radio?

I want to change the battery and don't have the original code which will put the radio into 'safe' mode?

Thanks

No.

No.

What about hooking up my jump charger to the cig lighter to give the whole car power while i change the battery. Maybe it will hold the code during the change?

Yes that should work, before you do it look in the manual as im sure i saw that there is a way of turning off the code request?

The radio should have comfort coding, where the radio will enable itself, once it has communicated with the rest of the car. This will only apply to the original factory fitted radio.

Thanks for the advice.

Much appreciated.

Previous threads suggest the code is 'remembered' provided you're not changing components.

Good luck!

Michael, mine remembered the code the first 3 or 4 times the battery was disconnected, but then suddenly 'forgot' it the next time it was disconnected - so don't assume it will not request the code on re-connection!

SO is there any way I can get my columbus code other than from a dealer....

I bought the car second hand.

Columbus installed by previous owner after delivery.

Skoda Australia has no record of the installation.

There is no record of the code with car documents.

Owner contact number has changed from purchase documents.

Hope I've got a 30 year battery installed or should I attach some solar panels or an auxiliary battery????
