Gearbox, clutch problems.

Featured Replies

I have a problem with my skoda 1.9tdi, last year in August i changed my clutch and flywheel.Car ran fine until friday it wouldnt go into gear i had to press clutch 2 or 3 times then it would go in.It would drive fine, took the car to my mechanic he says its the clutch.I had 3 months left on the warranty for the clutch, so took the car back to the idiot mechanic who put the clutch in.first thing he did was open the bonnet and the do something to the clutch cables, then he drove the car and in gears it started crunching, which it didnt do before i told him that i drove the car 10 miles to him and it drove fine until he touched it.

He said its the gearbox, now it crunches i dont know what he has done. Please somebody help .

Thanks

Think the clutch operation on your car is hydraulic.......so no clutch cable ????

Looks like the mechanic may have adjusted the gear linkage cables, and by the sounds of it fecked things up good and proper.

Perhaps get someone who knows what they are doing to have a look at it before you replace the box on his advice.

Having to pump your clutch is a sign of hydraulic problems not gearbox/clutch ones. Might be worth going to a vw specialist to get it sorted, Don't drive your car too far or the crunching will ruin your gearbox!
