Octavia Buying Advice Sought Please.

Featured Replies

Hi, Brilliant forum here. I have looked through the articles and cannot quite see what I am looking for so hope I have :

a) Not missed it, when it was staring me in the face.

B) That I am putting this in the right place.

Basically mum has had Skoda's for years and her last Fabia got written off last week at nearly 200,00 miles. I want her to be in a bigger car having seen what a lucky escape it was so we have decided on an Octavia. Although I know Skoda's I do not know Octavias and wondered if I could ask for any tips or advice when looking at one or test driving one.

Apart from the standard things to look at when buying a second hand car, is there anything specific to an Octavia that I should look at. I have found a L&K 2.0 TDI PD DSG estate which looks great and hope to look at it this week. If any kind soul could point me at anything i should look for in this model in particular, or any experience or thoughts on this model would be a great help and massively appriciated.

Thanks.

Ben.

Welcome to the forum.

It is worth doing a search on here about the 140PD engine as several owners have come across very premature oil pump drive failures (which will likely scrap the engine and turbo) this appears to be a common fault that affects the 140PD.

From 2009 the engine is listed as a 138PD, so may use a different engine that doesn't suffer from this problem.

Can't help on the MKII Octavia though as i have never owned one, but im sure someone will be along soon enough to tell you ant other weak points.
