Rear wash Octavia 1

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My rear window wash is not working. I've checked the pump at the reservoir and water is being pumped through both pipes there. It is not completing the journey to the rear windscreen though. There are no water leaks . Any ideas where to start looking before I start to dismantle the interior of the car in an attempt to find the clogged / twisted pipe ?

Thanks in advance

Hi I should have added that it is a mark1 Octavia and that I've checked the previous post for mark2.

Cheers

You could check the joint under the cd changer in left hand boot compartment, it's taped in with the wiring loom - in my estate anyway

Got the same problem on my hatch, and found that the pipe's popped off the washer motor and it comes out the bottom of the wing after about a minute. Unless i keep the stork pressed then in comes out quicker lol

thats easy to fix mate just remove the carbon canistor and the pipe join is underneath..

the other usual place is over the nsr wheelarch on the hatch cars..

oh and make sure that the actual jet is clear as thats usually what causes them to pop off in the first place

Try lifting wiper arm cover , pull off tubing, push on lenght of suitable flexi.pipe (petrol etc) and blow to clear washer pipe.

Have you removed the tailgate trim to check it you are getting water up to the wiper motor asm. This is relatively easy to do, and will cancel out the other testing that maybe harder to get to..

If you pull off the wiper asm tubing and get water coming out then then chances are the wiper jets are blocked and will need replacing or a fine needle through them to remove muck.

The jets sit on the wiper arm.

Just to add to this - if you find the pipe has popped off the wiper motor and washer jet assembly in the tailgate then don't be tempted to cable tie it back on, just push it back on normally.

The jet nozzles do get blocked from time to time and the pressure causes the pipe to pop off, but this is the easiest point to get to it to fix it.

If you try and secure the pipe tightly then the next time the nozzles get blocked it will end up coming apart in a more hard-to-get-to place (like somewhere in the C pillar or chassis)

 Spot on m8, loosened the expansion tank, took the carbon canistor out and fished around for 5 mins and it works, well apart from the top one it just dribbles even after a good poke with a pin. lol

Oh rats. Found this post after spending ages under bonnet and up by rear wiper motor only to find the pipe popped off by the CD changer and a swimming pool in the bottom of the nsr wing.

Wot a daft place to put a joint...

You can't see when it pops off.

It floods the inside of the wing.

It sits above the CD Changer.

It ties up to the wiring loom and right by a load of electrical connectors.

Perhaps the Czechs were never told about mixing water and electricity.
