Hi guys,

I need to top up the oil in my 2005 Fabia Ambient 1.4 16v 100hp. After calling my local skoda dealer I was recommended Castrol Edge 5w-30 fully synthetic. I've just been to the shops and purchased it, but on the bottle it says 'for long life services', and on the back it says that its specification is vw 504.00 / 507.00. This does not match what my owner’s manual suggests that I should use! In the owner’s manual it says that for cars which have fixed service intervals (which as far as I can tell mine does) the engine oil specification should be to vw 500.00 or 502.00.

After just looking on the internet I see that the castrol website recommends it for my car, but I am confused as it doesn’t conform to what the owner’s manual states.

Basically all I want to know is whether it is suitable or not, and if not, what should I use instead?
