Fabia exhaust

Featured Replies

Can it possibly be true that the only way to replace the flexible section of the exhaust on my Comfort 1.4 16v is to remortgage my house and pay my local dealer over

So including VAT, a little over

May have a spare 100% complete exhaust available for you. ;) But its off a 1.9 TDI so has the twin tailpipe backbox - was gonna keep it for spares TBH though, in case I fail my MOT come March. :)

Hi,

do you know if it fits? Can you email me off line? I don't know how to do that at present.

It'll fit I'm sure, its just I dunno the consequences of using a TDI backbox/catalytic convertor on a 1.4 16v - perhaps one of our techies can shed more light on it? ;)

Naturally I'd be very interested. If there are no technical problems the twin tail pipe sounds good too. Would that mean modding the bumper?

Trouble is, to me, it sounds more worth your while to just get the "flexible bit" off my spare system, and I'll keep the rest for spares. :) Then you're guaranteed of a perfect match (assuming all "flexible bits" are alike between different Fabias?)

As far as I'm aware the flexible section is welded to the down piep from the manifold and the front end of the cat section. The original proposal was to get the right length & diameter flexi section and cut out the existing one and clamp in a neew one. I don't really want to replace the cat just yet - this would be the first MOT - but it looks as though Skoda are forcing me in that direction ...........unless anyone knows better. Here's hoping.

Welded on? bloomin' eck, I just assumed there was some sort of big bolt or two to hold it on to the manifold... Saying that, I've never gone down there to check.. Oh, hang on, I was there when my pd100 was removed, and as no cutting gear was needed it must have been a bolt - probably a big 17mm fitting one. :D

I've gotta go for now. Just been told by a friendly dealer that the guy he might contact for an after market exhaust would have to send mine away to be fabricated and then send it back to me.

lol

So? Just run around with no exhaust - it'll sound nice and fruity at least. ;)

Err no Jason you old exhaust will not fit his 1.4 16v.

The blowing flexi pipe is a common problem across the VAG range (all of them with that engine in). The reason its so expensive is it includes the CAT.

Have a word with euro car parts.

Thanks master tech for the confirmation. ;) I had my nagging doubts I had to admit.:rofl:

Cheers Ross. Thanks also to Jason. I'll try Euro Parts and anyone else who might get me out of this hole! (My son's other car is a 1986 Audi Coupe Quattro that'll need putting back together).
