Not much chance here without an engine swap?

Just save your money for maintenance costs etc, build up your insurance NCD then sell the 1.6 and buy a 1.8T in a year or so, they can be had for as little as two and a half grand these days.

The insurance will totally shaft you for throttle bodies or an engine swap on the 1.6... it would be easier and cheaper to just buy a 1.8T

I would say remap, but with a non-turbo engine you're not likely to see more than about 10% that way.

You can get 160 to 180 reliably out of a built 1.6l motor, but by the time you've got it, buying a 1.8T car and keeping the 1.6 would be cheaper!
