Fabia vRS decated yesterday

Featured Replies

Hey again all :)

I have my vRS decatted by Browns of Thame yesterday. The car defiantly pulls stronger especially from sub 2k RPM and above 3K RPM. The noise levels are more or less the same - maybe slightly louder on full chat. Turbo lag was not reduced as much as I thought it would be but is maybe slightly less. This obviously shows there is some back pressure remaining as I kept the standard backbox for now. (less risk of turbo overspool etc).

All in all I'm very happy this this little mod and would like to thank Alex and Shawn for doing a great job.:)

And what will you do at MOT time?

And what will you do at MOT time?

Diesels don't need cats to pass MoT smoke tests as they don't get tested for emissions in the same way petrol engines do, so come MoT time I'll pass ;)

Well, you learn something new every day.

Yip no cat needed on a derv

Its not even a cat it a particulate filter ;)

How much did it cost for the decat!? I really want a decat downpipe, but keep the OEM system, as i'm an OEM lover

Alex supplied me with a decat pipe for £65 (bit cheaper then the £170 for the Milltek one ;)) + 1hr labour @ £50 + VAT = £135

yup, Im putting aside about £100 for the decat, as said above, local stainless places does it alot cheaper than big brand..

If you wanna squeeze every available horsey out of your lump then its a must have cheap(ish) mod.

Anybody fancy supplying me with a £65 decat pipe!?

What diameter did you go with in the end with the decat?

I know it doesnt make much difference until you get all of the exhaust section to same dimensions, undecided if I want to go for 2.25" or 2.5"..

I want to consider the noise levels too.. or has anyone got a 2.5 pipe and they can confirm that its not that loud..?

£135 FOR A DECAT!!! Prospeed in Cardiff did mine for 50 quid!

they saw you coming mate everywere around me charges £50 lol Powerflow ETS F1 etc

If our diesels don't require a cat to be fitted, why do they fit them in the first place, as it adds expense to price of car??

I'm guessing to get the emissions down to make the car look better on paper etc..

cat = bigger market for sale around the world to ensure they stay with in each countrys laws

I'm guessing to get the emissions down to make the car look better on paper etc..

But has been said emissions different on a diesel compared to diesel???

As for paper work, a car costing less is a great selling point.

its all about getting cars into the low tax band etc

So err what is the diameter of the pipe needed.. 2.25" or 2.5" ?

Anyone know who can make one of these in north Essex or Suffolk area?
