A friend of mine has a Fabia 1.4 TDI and he's got the usual power steering pump control failure and also the power steeing sensor failure.

He's looking at a bill of over £1000 at the dealers and nearly that at an independant.

I seem to remember a post a while back with someone with similar power steering pump control failure. The units are replaced with the whole pump and control unit as a single item but this old post had a link to a place that could separate and repair the unit. I seem to remember the place was in Warrington but I may be mistaken.

I've used the search function for over an hour with no luck (doesn't seem to be able to have word1+word2+word3 searches).

Does anyone have an info about the place that repairs power steering pumps?

Could try sourcing one from a scrap yard? I've not heard of the pumps being repaired before, usually the racks - although that's not to say people don't do it.
