Winscreen washer low warning not functioning

Featured Replies

I just ran out of washer fluid and the dash had not signalled that this was about to happen with its usual warning light and chime.

The low washer warning light on the dashboard comes on when the ignition is first turned on during the check phase so the buld etc seems OK.

Any thoughts as to what might be up and how best to fix it? Getting to the water bottle looks to be pretty tricky.

i didnt know the vRS had such a thing..? :S

It sure does, scares the crap out of me most the time! Always seems to happen about 5 minutes after actually using the jets

Maybe the sensors for it have corroded in the bottle? I think the bottle lives under the passenger side front arch lining but no idea what its like to get at!

look at me, learning new stuff today..!

My thoughts too. Getting at it is tricky though as the bottle mounting bolts are not accessible from within the wheel arch and seem to require the removal of the battery tray and/or the nearside front headlight assembly!

Why oh why do design engineers never think about the components that are likely to fail in a car's life and make them easy for the poor garage mechanic (or owner) to get to. Time was when Skoda did think along these lines but it seems those days are long gone. Perhaps the cynic in me says this is done deliberately so that hefty charges can be made for such trivial repairs.

No Need. You can get to the washer bottle by taking off the bumper.

See my GUIDE HERE about how to get at it. May aswell change to a 5litre one whilst you're at it

Actually you don't need to take the bumper off - just the front nearside wheelarch liner...
