Which front mud guards for vRS?

Does anyone know if the front mud guards for the vRS are any different to the stand Octavia. Looking to get some as I have a few stone chips appearing on the wheel arches and want to get some that match the rears. Do they just screw in and are the fittings already there, i.e the arch liners?

fitted original ones new from the stealers to mine 6 weeks ago part number SKEA075003 £11.91 + vat

Yeah all Mk1 front flaps are the same. They just fit straight on using existing holes, and a couple of clips.

Advantage is less crap up your door, and less chance of stonechips. Disadvantage is that they can scrape, and because they are clipped to the arch edge they can bend out the lip on the arch when you ground them. They also trap dirt behind them, and partailly block the scuttle drains. They can also damage the paintwork that they cover, due to rubbing.

I have recently removed all of my muflaps, and I think it looks much better and cleaner. Mud flaps are very 90's! You don't see many new cars driving around with mudflaps on anymore.

I have! I can take a photo if you like. People have even had problems with the clearcoat flaking off under the flaps.

if you wouldnt mind could i see a piccy, like i said its news to me so i dont want the same issues later :rofl:

Hmmm interesting! That was one worry was that over time the paint would be marked by them. They were not going to be a permanent feature but only until I stop the motorway commute which will be for at least another 12 months. Did you rears leave any marks?

The rears were fine underneath, as they don't overlap the bodywork as much, or hang as low. Plus I had the rear bumper resprayed before Christmas so it was pretty mint anyway!

The fronts have worn a line into the paintwork that traces the edge profile of the flap. It's not so bad, but it's there. I've tried to cut and polish it back, and waxed the areas now, so you can barely notice it. Glad I caught it when I did really. The more annoying bit was the bent lip on the wing arch. You can bend it back gently by hand, but it still annoyed me. I'm glad I got rid of the buggers before they did more damage.

The thing is though, if you just leave the flaps on, you'd never notice any of the above so it probably wouldn't bother you! I think it just comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. If you like them, keep them.

Exactly! Some flat flaps would be fine, as they wouldn't overlap loads onto the external bodywork, and they would be flexible enough to just flap back when grounded.

Someone on here does have a set on his black vRS, and they look superb.

I would like to see them as this may be the answer, as long as they dont look a-la-scooby ;)

Bodge is right :thumbup: I took my front and rear OEM mud flaps off cos they were starting to rub through the clear coat, and thats on a pampered 53 reg car that had done less than 21K.

Here's a pic as it is now with performance creations universal flaps fitted.

Just be aware that these are supplied in pairs, so two packs are needed to do front and rear and being universal fitment they need to be cut to size.

I tried a few makes before I was happy with these.....some other makes were to flexible and would blow about in the breeze....these stay in place :thumbup:

I found the octy does'nt suit mud flaps that stick out too far beyond the outer side wall of the tyre.

Can take measurments of mine if anyone wants them ???? which could be used as a starting point to custom make your own but to your own hight/width preference.

I experemented with black card from a model/art shop when I did mine so I did'nt feck up the flaps.

thoose look much better than the original ones :thumbup: looks like i might have to try and find these universal ones as they are not listed anymore :doh:
