Not sure about yours, but my brake bulb is a single element, which glows brighter if the rear lights are on.

Maybe thats why your having the problem?! mine is a 2006 vRS estate, so the rear lights should be the same, my bulb is a 382 (which is the same as the rear fog/tail light iirc), 2 for 3 quid in halfrauds, much cheaper on flebay though, might be worth investing.......

It doesn't take 382 bulbs. I got some from Halfrauds and I can assure you they are the wrong ones. They should be 566.

Just checked my bulbs, which are 382's work fine! Looking in the manual it says the following: Rear light unit (estate car) reversing light, brake lights, tail lights and rear fog light P21W.

however, it seems that the hatch has completely different bulbs e.g the tail/brake light is the twin filament, hence the confusion.

Is yours the hatch?

Yes. Yes it is. It's a pain they use such a random bulb as it's far rarer.

Mines the hatch, and it definately has single filament bulbs for the tail/stop lights. The filaments glow brighter when the brake pedal is pressed.

Absolutely positively not twin filament bulbs -- I went to Skoda main dealer for a replacement for mine as Halfords didn't have one.

Mike

The plot continues to thicken..................!
