Steering creak at parking speed - Only when turning right!!

Featured Replies

Subject line sums up my problem. I get a quite noticeable clicking/creaking sound when parking or doing slow speed manouvers, only seems to happen when I turn the steering wheel to the right. Any ideas?

I had a new [modified] anti-roll bar (Octavia vRS) late in the warrranty at which point they also changed my left-side strut top bearing. Some 8,000 miles later I started to notice this right-turn sound. Dealer replaced the right-hand strut top bearing (

I get a similar thing, and sometimes when manouvering backwards (probably not a reason) the steering emits a real heavy CLUNK! that scares me a little. It never starts going heavy or anything, but something's moving down there and I dunno what it is!

I had the same problem, kicked up a fuss with mr skoda man in manchester he picked upo the car and laden the discs with copper looking grease stuff. No squeeks now at all!

I have the 'infamous' brake squeaking, which doesn't really worry me (just embarrasing :o). However, this, I don't think, is the breaks, it is be generated in the steering column/steer rack unit area of the front wheels. The brake squeal usual comes from the back :(.

arthritis in yer right shoulder? :D

Annoyingly enough mine has developed this fault too.

I suspect it to be down to the anti role bar mounts being dry.

Garage 'can't' find anything so was begining to wander if it was just me - glad someone else has same issue.

I have some appropriate lube stuff that came with some eibach arb for another car so will pull it all apart over the weekend and let you know if the problem goes away.

I have a similar problem with my steering. A loud clunk particularly at parking speeds. The dealer changed my driveshaft at first & now has replaced a shock absorber, but the noise persists.

Do let me know if any of you found a solution to this godawful sound.

Cheers!
