Coolant Pump "B"

Featured Replies

Hi All , Anyone know what the Coolant Pump "B" is or does on a 2009 Octavia 2 ltr TDi vrs ? I had the fault code "Coolant Pump "B" Control Circuit / Open" Does this mean that there is an electric coolant pump as well as the one driven off the cambelt, and if so what could be the reason ?

Certain VAG models do have a secondary circulation pump to continue coolant circulation after the engine is switched off. This is to help avoidance of 'hot spots' and oil carbonisation (e.g. in the turbo). You should be able to hear the pump quietly humming after turning off the engine.

Assuming this is not a 'spurious' code then you could have a problem with the pump or its relay.
