octavia service items

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I was hoping someone out there might now what service my car requires as the dealer seems a little unsure. I have an 07 plate vrs tfsi on variable service regime that is approaching 40,000 miles. It has been serviced whenever 'asked' by teh on board computer. First service at 8000 miles (year old) then a service at 8000 + 18,000 and now i am 18000 furtehr on and require another service. Everywheer i ring seems to give a different price and different service requirement (ie soem say moderate service soem say major). Last service was everything except fuel filter, belt & plugs. Any ideas? If so does anyone have a list of what is included in each service ? would be v useful to know....thanks for any help!

Huh??? :S

If your dealer doesn't know when I would suggest finding another, better dealer.

All the info is in the service record booklet that you should have (its the small service book with the service stamps, not the manual). My reading of it is that on variable the first service (approx 1 year give or take depending on milage/driving style) is the oil change, fuel filter change and check of brake pads. The second service (2 years) is the 'inspection' one - oil, filter, check pads, battery and cleaning of certain areas if needed, inspection of paint and full system test. This is what I suspect your last one was.

The next service (listed as 60k km or 4 years, whatever comes first) is bigger still - engine components checked, gearbox checked (oil in DSG gearbox changed), steering componants looked at, anti-freeze system checked, exhaust looked at, dust/pollen filter replaced, electrics inspected, clutch oil replaced, headlights checked for levelling, windscreen wipers checked, spark plugs changed etc.

So to answer your question, I think it is clear you need the full (and biggest in the bunch) service now (your 40,000 miles is around 65,000 km so that would be why the MDF has flashed up that you need a service). But as the last reply stated if a dealer really doesn't know this then go to one that does, or perhaps try an independant...
