I used DOT 5.1 in my ibiza tdi sport - also use it in my bike. great stuff. ( do not use DOT5 - it is silicone fluid and not compatible with the brake system)

I used 1 ltr to flush mine through with a vaccum bleeder - its only about £2.75 for 500ml so 2 ltrs will only cost you £11

not sure about gearbox oil.

For the Gearbox use Fuchs 75w 80 or 75w 90. The grades depend on not alot really either will do.

quantity??

It's gonna be about 3litres, so you might as well buy the 5L pack. Try Opie oils for all this stuff, good prices.

Out of interest most of the manual gearboxes have no drain plug - Skoda service manual says to use suction equipment which I take to mean like a pella type pump. Can such a pump effectively drain gear oil from the fill hole - i.e. is it possible to reach the bottom of the gearbox with a plastic tube? (Sorry don't mean to hijack thread but it's a question I've not noticed answered before :) and seemed relevant).

Hello Banana Tobacco

DOT 4 for the brake fluid about £5.00 for 1 litre to renew full system. (Changed 2 yearly)

Gear-box type oil (attached photo)

There is both a drain and level/filler plug needs special plug key (attached photo)

Gear-box holds about 2.3litres in total.

Skoda says gear-box filled for life or refill if leak develops.
