Fabia - Window regulator repair kit

Featured Replies

Slight issue, the wire on my passenger window mech has brokend, hence causing the electric window to fail.

I phoned skoda to get a spare window regulator kit but they only sell the whole door skin and not just the regulator. Does anyone know the part number for just the regulator and wires and not the complete assembly?

Thanks

Just had the same issue, I've ordered mine from Ebay, do a search for Fabia window regulator and then take your pick :-)

Just as easy to change the inner skin imo - about £40 from eurocarparts

I had to do mine today and I used a kit i bought from ebay for £16.99. Mine failed due to a split slider.

The kit is actually really good and comes with identical parts. The only difference is the cables are solid black casings opposed to the rubber sound proofing ones. So I just cut off the sound proofing sheaths and taped them onto the new ones.

If you didn't read up on how it is assembled, it can be a real ball ache to get the cables routed properly.

So my top tips....

+ When you're ready to put the motor pulley in, have all the bowden cables placed into their seats, except one. With one of the cables hanging off, put the spring loaded bits in first. Get a second pair of hands to compress the spring loaded tensioners while you feed the loose cable round the pulley and into it's seat. The little gaps on the pulleys are perfect for getting the cables round that tight gap.

+ If your skin was pop riveted on, i bought a rivnut gun with some 8mm rivnuts. So I can bolt mine on now opposed to riveting it back on.

+ Use plenty of grease to lube up the cables, sliders and pulleys. I used ACF-50 high performance grease (blue stuff).

+ The sliders are not designed to be popped off either end of the runners, instead they twist on. They feel like they would break but they are fine.

+ Make sure you clip the window grips back in the right way round. So the welded nuts are on the outside.

+ The sliders are handed and are labelled but the window grips aren't.

+ Feel free to unbolt the door catch to get to the plug... oh and it's a bitch to get off.

After mine failed I drilled out the rivets but had no luck in removing the door lock plug and instead had to cut the wires and resolder! absolute PIA. Anyone know how you open these connectors?

This plug is on a different part of the car but releasing them is the same. Put your thumbnail under the tab and pull tab towards the wire to release plug...
