not allways the N249 to blame!

Featured Replies

I've been suffering from the old hesitation and jerkiness problem on my octavia rs and I was convinced that it was the N249 at fault even though I have had no error codes in the ecu,but actual cause was the pipe to the d.v.

As the pipe was quite taught it was acting like a 1 way valve.

soon solved!

Hi,

i have simular hesitation problems with my car, and i'd be curious to try this.

Where did you get the replacement pipe from? How long is the pipe?

Cheers,

Shaun.

any vacuum hose is suitable, ebay is a good start and is nice and cheap with a variety of colours available to suit

Same problem can happen if you have a Forge 007 and keep the engine cover on as the cover presses against the pipe

what diameter will i need? while i'm at it will it be just as easy to bypass the n249?

sorry to hijack the thread.

4mm or 6mm should be fine. i removed my engine cover as said above because it put pressure on the hose, a few mod the cover so it fits around the dump valve which is an option if you prefer the cover on. a lot of us have by-passed or removed the n249 and removed all the metal pipework so the dump valve will use an outlet straight off the inlet manifold. i find mine is a smoother drive and the dv seems to perform better now its been removed, im sure others will give advice aswell

You need a clip on that pipe or run the risk of it blowing off under full boost.

Its hard to tell from the pics but it looks like the top of the pipe has been rubbing on the underside of the bonnet.

Funnily enough I had this the other day with my forge 007P! Dump valve sounded different and car felt slightly jerky. That same top hose was squashed by the engine cover.

The 007PA is handy to get around this as you can have the vac hose laying flat instead of curving upwards off of the vacuum connector:

I have the PA version as i didn't like the way the vac hose came from the top of the valve.

when mine kinked i was getting chatter

I have the PA top on my 007P :) I had problems with the hose catching on the S3 strut brace :dull: It cost me £25 for the PA lid from Forge, which saved me buying the job lot again ;)

Thats handy to know, may have to invest. Did you have to exchange the existing top or not?

Nope. :)
