Why does my passenger door unlock itself?

Featured Replies

I have noticed that occasionally when I lock my VRS the front passenger door lock goes down then pops straight back up again. If I press lock on the fob again then it locks and stays down. I did think that it was water getting in somewhere as it often seemed to do it for about a day after washing the car but has also happened at other times. Is this a common problem and is it likely to be the central locking motor on that door, the convenience module or something else?

My drivers door was doing this for a while, when I took the door card off I found there is a ring shaped piece of plastic around the underneath of the hole that the lock/unlock knob goes down into and this had fallen off, and the plastic bits around the hole were catching the knob and stopping it from going up and down properly. So the car was trying to lock then unlocking that door again straight away. Replaced the plastic ring and its all been fine since
