Automatic boot opening.

Featured Replies

I think this has been done before (a few years back) on a mk1 Octy but they had a 3 button key fob from an Audi with the boot release button as well and fitted springs to the struts as you've done.

How much would it cost to get a three buttong fob and do this? is it even worth considering?

Then you'd have to get the key blade cut to match your existing keys, code it to the immobiliser (dealer or VAG-Tacho needed to do this) and code it to the remote system with the key in the door method. And fit the springs to the boot struts so the boot opens itself when the lock releases.

Too much faffing for me I'm afraid!

Yeah I think I can find better things to spend my money on... Like accuators for my bonnet haha.

the initial link is for a Mk2 car, I'm not sure a Mk1 boot lock works the same..

Mine releases the tailgate lock on the third button to enable you to open it by hand, but doesn't release the latch to allow the lid to open on its own.
