Alter Xenons in VCDS and Fabia controllers help.

Featured Replies

Hello :-)

Just a quick question. I've recently downloaded and started playing with VCDS. I've only every used the old VAGCOM to check fault codes.

Is it possible to alter the Xenons on a Fabia vRS using the shareware version (eg put the Xenons into learning mode and set them with the screw and then take them out of learning mode) or do you need the full version to be able to do this?

Also what is the complete list of controllers on the Fabia vRS. I have tried searching but can't find this info. I tried 'Steering' module yesterday but nothing came back!! (I'm pretty sure I have a steering wheel!!)

Thanks for your help,

Dom

You'll need a software license/activation to do basic settings which is what the xenon adjustment does.

Thanks for your fast reply Sebastian,

I don't need to alter them at the moment, i was thinking more for the future if they ever fell out of alignment. I thought some adaption/ basic settings were included in the free VCDS version but I didn't know which settings.

Do you know the full list of control modules available of the fabia vrs?

I guess what I'm asking here is what are the big omissions from VCDS shareware as to the full licenced version. The website has comments like limited functionality which aren't very descriptive.

Thanks again,

Dom

Shareware:

- Cannot do Auto-Scan

- Won't display Text for all Fault Codes

- No Basic Settings (so no TBA, Xenon levelling, etc or checking timing on TDI's)

- No Adaptation Saving (so no changing of locking/lights/horn behavior)

- No Output Tests

- No Tech Support from Ross-Tech

Limitations of VCDS-Lite even if Fully Registered:

- No Generic OBD-II

- Won't work with CAN-Bus vehicles

- Fewer fault code definitions and label files

- No built-in Activation (you'll be limited to a single PC)

- No Advanced Measuring Blocks

- No Direct Access for Adaptation and Basic Setting

- No Acceleration Measurement

- No Automated Service Reset

- No Session Log Capabilities

- No Support for Guided Readiness Scripts

- No Optical Bus Diagnosis

- No Battery/Gateway Coding/Long Coding Assistant

- No (Automatic) Updates

- No ECU Mileage Reading (EDC15/16)

...and some more minor things as well. ;)

Wooh even faster!! Thanks again, sounds like if I ever need to do anything other than check fault codes I'd better buy the ROSS Tech lead :-)

What a great site!!,
