vRS 170 CR

Featured Replies

Well I have now returned to Skodas after what will be 2 yrs away when the car arrives. ( I have still been organising S.East Meets)

Story as follows.

Once upon a time emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Sold my remapped Black Magic Fabia vRS 2 yrs ago this month, to buy a Fiat 500 Diesel, purely for the claimed economy of 67 mpg, but realistically expecting 58 - 60.

After 24 k miles & 2 services the frustration of trying to get over 55 mpg by adapting driving styles and failing ( only getting 47 - 50), I have had enough frustration & after a test drive, I have ordered an Octy vRS 170CR Manual in Metallic Silver today. ( Even after looking at the new fabia vRS )

I knew all about the Octy vRS anyway, so there were 2 factors that would have made my decision to buy, 1 - was a good price for for my current car & 2- getting both VAT free & Zero % finance.

Good news was that the price for my car was bite the hand off offer, followed by getting both zero VAT & Zero % finance - reeesult emoticon-0103-cool.gif .

Extras requested Front & Rear parking sensors & full size spare.

I am in 2 minds about Maxidot, I have till Monday am to request this to be added the only thing is I dont know specifically what this gives over & above the normal display. Can anyone enlighten me please ?

Maxidot gives a little more information i.e. oil temp in information mode. It also looks a little nicer with more graphics i.e. picture of car with which door is open. It then gives you control over certain features without having to use VCDS. So you can turn things like the follow me home lights on and off or the antihijack stuff etc. Considering the low price of it I feel it is a worthehile option and one I went for with my current car.

Thanks PSM,

Hopefully now someone has an up to date list of VCDS functions this controls, as I have seen an older thread with a list of 12 functions it controls.

*cough* Add the maxidot *cough*

No hesitation here - second Octavia, second car with Maxidot. If I ever drive one without it, I'm left staring at the dashboard, wondering how to talk to the car.

Nicely done - glad to have you back (properly)

That's a shame about the 500 fuel consumption. Something's not quite right there that you'll probably match those MPG figures with the arrival of the Octy - something which probably has enough room to park a 500 in the boot :p

Enjoy B)

Cheers,

Steve

P.S. Oh, and I'd add Maxidot too - think the dash looks odd without it TBH and the additional functionality it brings is handy...

Maxi dot ordered.

I am going to measure up to see if i can get ramps on it & fold the seats down to get the 500 in the boot emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

You KNOW it makes sense! emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Welcome back to proper cars....
