Hi, any ideas why my Dad's heater fan has stopped working on settings 1, 2 and 3? It works fine on number 4.

Hi, any ideas why my Dad's heater fan has stopped working on settings 1, 2 and 3? It works fine on number 4.

It sounds to me as though the heater rheostat has givven up the ghost, basicaly it will be working on no 4 speed because its getting a straight/full 12volts to the motor, the way it works is to get no 1 or 2 or 3 speeds working it steps the voltage down by using a resister, this is found at the back of the passengers glove box just remove the glove box and you will see a plug like connector going into the heater box with large wires and its only a matter of removing it and replacing it with a new one. just make suer when you have fitted a new one that the heater fan works and isnt seizing as a seizing fan motor will blow the new resister
