Best Black Polish/Wax

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently bought a black 2001 Fabia 1.4 16v Elegance & was wondering what the best black polish or wax to use?

I've been thinking about buying Poorboys black glaze for a while!

I use Pro-shine at the moment which is great stuff as long as your car doesn't have any scratches/swirl marks (which mine does) as it won't hide them. I've tried the black turtlewax but wasn't that impressed.

Cheers

Strange - I tried the Turtle Wax Black Box, and was very impressed with it for £24.99, and it's now on a BOGOF offer

I've just picked up some AutoGlym from Halfords on a BOGOF offer.. If the weather is nice this weekend I might give it a wash.

The wax I was using was the turtle wax black colour magic, the bottle came with the chipstick. I didn't think it made the car shine like Proshine but it did hide some of the swirl marks. Will try poorboys black & see how I'll get on with that.

Polish and wax are too different things.

In simple terms; polish removes/hides imperfections in the paint (swirlmarks etc), wax (or a sealant) produces a nice shine/gloss.

The AG Super Resin Polish is a good product to use for masking swirls etc in the paint. For a nice shine I like to use Jetseal sealant (it's easy to apply and very durable, for a wax I use Dodo Juice Purple Haze, it gives a really deep shine.

Wax and polishes are very much a personal choice, take a look at the guides pinned on here, also have a look on detailingworld theres a good section on there on what to use on black cars.

Thanks for that. I will read the guidelines to help choose the correct polish or wax.

The Black Box is a lot better than that - there are three different bottles involved - one to put the detailer on, one spray to take it off, then a carnuba wax top coat - works very well, if a little time consuming

Poorboys Black Hole Glaze

Followed by..

Poorboys EX-P Sealer

An excellent combination on dark colours

I've just used the deep shine polish and in the process of waiting for the extra gloss protection to dry so i can buff it off i'll let you know what it looks like, i was impressed after i'd polished it so think i'll be just as happy if not happier when its all done

Thanks! I shall hunt for that tomorrow.. any suggestions on the other product I should be getting with the BOGOF? Don't think they sell poorboy's stuff @ halfrauds :giggle:
