Tomorrow is cleanup day!

Featured Replies

So i've had my red Fabia for about three weeks now and I've decided to give it a thorough cleanup. The car wasn't valeted when bought so I've been slowly cleaning inside, however there's a few stains on the seats and it could do with a wire brush and hoover jobby.

I've taken advantage (and a bit more!) of Halfords buy one get onf free on all cleaning products and bought the following:

2 x AutoGlym Aqua Wax

2 x AutoGlym Foam Cleaner

2 x AutoGlym Super Resin Polish

2 x AutoGlym Surface Detailing Clay Kit

1 x bottle of halfords own brand glass cleaner.

Somehow I managed to get the clay kits for free (****up on their part) and paid £38 for the lot!

So my plan tomorrow is go and do a thorough jetwash and then drive home and give the car a good clay & polish treatment followed by a waxing. The only problem is my parking place is under a very sappy tree and I'm a bit worried I'm going to ruin my finish as I'm working by leaving it under the tree.

Does anyone have any tips for a first time diy detailing treatment? I've been reading plenty on the forum, but more info is always welcome, especially for older red cars!

You might want to add a layer of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection over the SRP to protect the finish. Also a coat of decent wax such as Colly or AG HD. Megs Gold Class Wax works well over EGP.

Would the Aqua Wax not do the job?

Had to go back to the Big H, left my foam cleaner there and picked up a couple of bottles of EGP, got a table covered in AG bottles now, let's hope they do the trick (and I don't mess it up)!
