endless problems

Featured Replies

It' would appear that we got a Monday car . :( My GF'S Fabia Combi Diesel we only have it a few weeks and I have had to fix water leaks / reverse light switch /had to change a rear caliper and now she tells me that the wipers have stopped working and the rear passanger window has jammed half way down :@ . It had one owner with a full main dealer history who would have belived that it could got so wrong. I think a gallon of petrol and a match might be the answer .

Rant over.

Has anybody any ideas about the wiper problem as I have checked the fuse and the connections and they are fine .

See sticky on wipers not working. With any luck that should help. It's not unusual to get these serial problems on a s/h car as people leave them when they are thinking of changing the car. Not being used causes more problems and I bet the rear window was rarely used. It could have moved into a jammed sideways position if the glass carriers have let go of the glass (Many threads on this common problem). Lots of WD40 down the sides and in the centre (so it goes onto the slide/glass holder), then wiggle window front to back and pull upwards using hand either side of glass. GF to wind up as the glass rises. Use duct tape to hold window up Then it's off with the trim and follow the guides on line. Probably just loosening and refitting the carriers will do it. Good lube and you're in business. Don't panic we bought a W reg Fabia 3 years ago and had almost identical list of problems. Once fixed the little machine has run beautifully whatever the weather or task. Best of luck.
