Pasti-dip....get it to stick?

Featured Replies

Anyone used plasti-dip, particularly to paint chrome grills black. I have and it peeled off the next day.

Apparently no prep required but i suppose there is, if so what can i do to make it stick??

Thanks

Dave

I saw the title and thought it must be some posh sauce to use instead of ketchup on your Ginsters :giggle:

When I painted the grille on my Octy, I roughened it up with wet and dry and then sprayed it with acid etch primer before normal primer and a few coats of satin black. Seems OK so far and it's been on for about 4 months.

acid etch is the key.

This plasti=dip is a rubber compound paint and gives a matt black finish, got it off ebay after someone told me they used it on there fabia grill.

I think though I'm going to use the etch primer, primer and satin black approach now. Did you use a clear lacquer to finish?

No, just left it satin black.
