Remap in Shropshire thursday 29th

Featured Replies

no dont think so his isnt mapped

he was just unlucky with the new turbo he brought

what does mikko thng is achievable from his maps???

That printout is from Mikko's rollers mate, he tuned and dyno'd the car himself, so it's not just me spouting figures, I wouldn't do that without backup.

I wouldn't quote someone 250hp from a remap on the 1.8T, I'd quote 225 tops. But that car made 251, simples :)

has he had it changed under warranty yet not heard anything from him?

was it oggys that died?

Oggy's car's been standard since way before his new turbo was put on, I did it for him

ben if you go back through posts you made you seemed to bring up the fact you can get 251 bhp at no point have you said we will only get you 225bhp maybe thats where the confusion has lbeen

scrap the we got 250 bhp from a k03s it wil do you no favours in the long run it will just make you look rather silly especially on a standard side mount.

p.s how much of the mapping do you get involved with ???? or does mikko do all the changes and modifications to the maps ??

a standard sidemounted car can be pushed to around the 220 bhp mark no further and this has been done by certain tuners

I don't think even that figure (let alone 250+ bhp) would be able to be made several times in a row with a standard SMIC. Maybe on the first run when the engine is fairly cold that figure is achievable but not on subsequent runs.

I've tested a 213bhp remapped VRS with the standard SMIC by redlining in 4th three times in a row on the standard SMIC with inlet temps starting at 20 degree on the first run and finishing at 40 degrees on the last run, and it was running 193bhp by the last run :(

If the standard SMIC is good for 250bhp (or even 220bhp for that matter) then why did VAG feel the need to fit two of them to the BAM engine?

a standard side mount can take 220 bhp for 1 run then you will prob get nearer 180 after that as the cooler will be run hot ( scalding hot ) thus this is my argument

Hang on a minute, I didn't say "Our stage x software will get you 251hp" - I said we had got 251hp out of a car with the standard SMIC. What I actually said was "Our "generic" stage 2 for 150/180bhp K03s engined cars is good for 225+hp and we have it tested at 251hp."

I do some of it but Mikko does a lot of it and he's quicker than I am. I'm better with hardware and immobilisers etc, and so we make a good team. Shark Performance isn't just me you know

For the same reason that they needed to fit a K04 turbo, bigger injectors, stronger internals, a 4 bar FPR etc etc. So that they are largely under-stressed.

ben have you got any logs from a spec 2 car ????

Guys put the handbags away..

anyway Jason has just left and i have to say i am fairly impressed with the way the car drives (not gone far yet supposed to be working :giggle: )

he also took time out to have a look at another brisky members car which had a very aggressive map and was causing problems (not done by him).

so impressed i may be considering becoming a dealer for him in purely vag remaps. depending on the final figures he sends me anyway..

dont care how much bhp it has it goes bl00dy well now

no handbags out mate just trying to ask a question about claims he has made. he is a company and a tuner so these are all things he will have to answer anyway its just clearing things up .

the one good thing with ben is he will answer the question on here on a open forum and discuss things wich i take my hat of to him but with regard to the 1.8t maps im yet to be convincced by them

p.s so what do you know about mapping??? i know your clever with mechanics and rally cars etc

I don't categorise logs and so I wouldn't have a clue if I do or not.. I'll save some next time I do though.

Why do I always get brought Into an argument.. Not guilty your honour.

has he had it changed under warranty yet not heard anything from him?

A long story short I may have had a faulty replacement turbo from new, which Is typical for me... The car Is still running & driving fine, the ECU Is as standard & has been for a long time. The engine has been Inspected & all OK, but blue smoke comes out of the exhaust, which more than points to the oil seals on the turbo :'( .

As for the warranty... Its still on going & has been a real pain too. TPS say Its the dealer to sort, being a genuine part, but the dealer say Its a TPS Issue. Anyway after talking to the right people In the right places, I think I've sorted the missunderstanding out. At the moment I'm gathering the invoices, ie proof of purchase, fitment ect of what the dealer has stipulated they needed to see. I know they will try their hardest to wangle out of It & blame something It Isn't.

problem with skoda is they havent supplied the part so they take the stance 'whats it got to do with us'. unfortunately its in their dealer terms to do warranty claims, they get paid so i dont see the problem, we have no issues with vw/audi/seat because we have a dealership within the gilder group but with skoda it isnt the case, as you know mate if i could have done it i would but our rules our only electrical items under £50 or and anything other than a major unit ie turbo, engine, gearbox. problem with lambs and bickertons is we have taken 95% of the trade sales off them so they just dig their heels in. i'm sure it'll be fine oggy just keep on at them and if you need me to speak to them to confirm you've had a genuine turbo fitted thats not an issue...................and sorry to hijack this thread!

I fully understand & I know you would helped If you could have  Just got fed up with not getting anywhere with the dealer & also hearing from the master tech that they have never ever had a problem with the turbo's :dull:

Not much with turbo cars to be honest never done one but i have done a bit on Omex and DTA, having played around with omex for 4 years or so i would still put me as amature i did map the C20xe in my felly from scratch tho and that seems to go ok..

its something that interests me a lot but the expense to get the (decent) kit is enormous..

like most on here i just love playing with stuff and making improvements

Just got home after a long drive back. Nice to meet you Jim (felicia16v) & thanks for organising this. I just happened to be in the area as I was on a short break with my girlfriend, not sure what the chances were of being in the area at the right time!

Big thanks to Jason, from more-bhp, a nice chap and he knows his stuff. Highly recommended.

Here here. I wouldn't have the patience to deal with us lot! I can't think of many tuners that do either. Forge sticks in my mind as giving some rather shirty responses when you quiz them on their products! I must say they have improved recently though.

By the way Ben, I'm still loving the map. It's got a lovely OE smoothness to it. I can drive it around gently all day like a normal boring car, but when I'm feeling agro she gives me what I want! It's a sexy Stage 1 map. Shark Performance FTW!
